It’s no mystery that Doonites are heavily obsessed with Chinese food and we take pride in ourChinese food outlets in Dehradun. Doon culture has been heavily been influenced by our many Tibetan Brothers and Sisters which brings us Tibetan Food and also a bit of Chinese food. Since then on every nook and corner we can find momos and Chowmein. Along with dishes such as Chili Chicken and Chicken Manchurian. So, let’s take a look at some of the best places to enjoy Chinese in the valley.
  • Countdown – Well, this had to be the first. Countdown is possibly the oldest Chinese restaurant in the city. Serving some of the best Indianised Chinese dishes, Countdown has been going strong for years now. Right from Soups to Chowmeins and Chilli Chicken to a signature dish of this restaurant which is called temptation. Rightly so, it’s hard to resist the temptation.
  • Paradise – Situated on Laxmi road, Paradise know only to the people living in the catchment area serve delicious Chinese food. Specialties are Chowmein, soups, spring rolls and Dim Sum.
  • Orchards – One of its kind place to eat in the city or may be even the whole country. Situated incognito between trees and houses is Orchards Restaurant at Dak Patti. You cannot find it because there are no proper landmarks except for the MDDA Park. Dining of awesome Chinese food with a clear view of the Sahastradhara mountains makes a meal even better. Famous for its noodles and Momos. Orchards is an experience in itself. Also try Tiramisu, amazing.
  • Lhasa Restaurant – Again a very miss-able place. Situated at the steep road of Kishanpur, this small restaurant can easily miss from eye but its food is not to be missed. Run by an old Tibetan Lady, this restaurant offers only Chinese and Tibetan food and at very reasonable price. Best out of the menu is Chicken Schezwuan Noodles. Aunty, is a bit strict but her food is amazing.
  • Moti Mahal – Moti Mahal is one of those restaurants which serves some of the most authentic Chnese in the city. Right from Hakka Noodles to fried rice, every dish is authentic and great in taste. Situated close to the Clock Tower, this restaurant serves a wide variety of foods and not only Chinese.
  • China Bistro – Situated at Jakhan area of the city, China Bistro offers great and authentic Chinese food with a setting of outdoor sitting with a view of trees. It almost gives a feeling that you are somewhere far from the city and also offers great food. China Bistro is a branch of a Restaurant in Kolkata’s China Town. China Bistro as the name goes serves only authentic Chinese food.
  • Nanking – Also among the oldest Chinese restaurants of the city, Nanking has been serving families and youth of the valley for years now. Known particularly for its Chowmeins, Nanking has been a favorite spot for people to spend their time. Situated at the Ballupur Road, Nanking in itself is a landmark.
  • China King – Originally opened as Yo China! China King has been serving some unique Chinese dishes such as Dimsums and Chicken wings to Chowmeins. Situated very conveniently opposite St Joseph’s Academy at Rajpur Road. China King provides a great dine-in experience and also at very reasonable prices.
  • Town Table – Probably the biggest eating place in present day Dehradun. Table Town offers a unique dining experience on the terrace which is quite new for Doonites. Situated at Rajpur Road, just opposite the Great Value Hotel, this restaurant along with its great ambience serve great food and specially Chinese Food.
  • Kalsang – Originally opened in Mussoorie, Kalsang very shortly became extremely popular courtesy It’s amazing food. Run by mostly Tibetans, this restaurant has also been reviewed by NDTV in one of its Tv shows. Kalsang in Dun is situated at Rajpur Road just opposite the Osho Resorts. A must go to Chinese destination for every Chinese lover in the city and when you are there order Chicken Noodles and rice.
  • Black Pepper – Black Pepper is situated at the most popular place of the city. On first floor, right above the McDonalds on Astley Hall this restaurant has made its name with close competition to an old restaurant such as the Prez and The President. Black Pepper offers a great Dining experience for the complete family. Among a good Chinese menu Chicken in Almond Sauce stood out for me.
