Localities in Dehradun

In addition to being the interim capital of Uttarakhand, Dehradun is also one of the fastest growing cities of the state. Since centuries, Dehradun has captivated people with its immense beauty, wildlife, pilgrimage importance and many adventurous activities. With an area of 300 sq kms, Dehradun has many localities that are famous among both tourists and locals.



Rajpur Road

A mix of luxury retail outlets and shops selling local handicrafts, bamboo artifacts can be found on this road. Many high-end brands like Woodland, Adidas, Nike, Vishal Mega Mart and so on have their retail outlets on Rajpur Road. Besides shopping, there are many fine-dining restaurants, cafes and budget hotels on this street. Paltan Bazaar

Located near the famous Clock Tower in Dehradun, Paltan Bazaar is one street market that has everything, from clothes, books and local artifacts to the best restaurants, bakeries and fast food joints in the city. Vasant Vihar

Vasant Vihar is one of the residential areas, situated near the Sethi Market in Dehradun. Termed as a very good neighborhood, Vasant Vihar has its own list of various multi-cuisine restaurants, cafes and bakeries. This area is very well developed and is suitable for medium to high income groups. The distance between the airport and Vasant Vihar is around 30 kms and between the railway station and Vasant Vihar is 5 kms.

Tibetan Market

Another popular area in Dehradun, Tibetan Market is one of the busiest places in the city. It is especially known for purchasing vibrant T-shirts and clothes. Both tourists and locals often visit this place in the hope of buying some stylish garments. Some of the popular items here are woolens and exquisite Tibetan items like carpets, jewelry and semi-precious pebbles. Furthermore, there are many small restaurants nearby that offer delicious Tibetan delicacies such as Thupkas, Chowmein and Momos.

Other popular areas in Dehradun include Indira Market, Bengali Library Road, Rispana Bridge near Vidhan Sabha and Gandhi Road Market.
