Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand. It is one of the ‘Counter Magnets’ of the NCR, as it is being developed to ease the migration of Delhi. Dehradun is famous for its picturesque landscape and amazing climate. It is well connected to other tourist destinations around the region like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital and Mussoorie.
There are many tourist destinations in Dehradun like the Tapkeshwar temple, Malsi Deer Park, Kalanga monument, Tapovan, Santala Devi temple and Guchhupani. Other places to visit include Sahasradhar and Forest Research Insitute, where a tree aged more than 1000 years has been preserved over there, right from the time of Razia Sultan.
The total distance from Chandigarh to Dehradun is of 183 km. It takes 4-5 hours to complete the journey by road. There are buses running from Chandigarh to Dehra Dun frequently every day. It takes 6 hours by bus to complete the journey.
To start off with your journey, move on the Ambala Chandigarh Expressway for 9 km. Then turn left at Mangalam Sales and Service and move for 10 km. Turn right onto NH 73 and move for 4 km. Then take a slight left onto SH 1 and move for 37 km. Turn right onto SH 4 and move for 15 km.
Then take a right onto Bilaspur Road and move for 8.2 km. Take NH 73A and move for 22 km. Then move on the Chakrata Road for 18 km. Turn right and move on the Shimla Bypass Road, and move for 31 km. Keep moving on NH 72A for 3 more km and you will reach your destination after 5 hours of journey.
