From snow capped mountains to overcoming the fear of an avalanche to never making a wrong move, the Himalayan range has it all in store for you. With so many different treks you can take up the Himalayas, your winter adventure for the next 10 years can be planned in the matter of minutes.
Here are some of the treks you have to do at least once in your life.
Annapurna Base Camp
At a height of 8091 meters, this trek takes about 11 days. While it isn’t the most difficult trek to complete, it is one that will challenge you and make you feel accomplished in the shortest span of time possible. Originating from Pokhara, Nepal, this trek will take you through scenic landcapes and rustic villages offering you one of the best views of the Himalayas.
The best time to make this journey is between September to February and March to May.
BanderpunchAt 6316 meters, this trek will take you about 8 days. The trek is not a very difficult one and is named so as it resembles the tail of a monkey (Banderpoonch). Originating from Uttarkashi, you will pass through some of the glaciers, rivers like Yamuna, Tons and Ganga and some lush evergreen forests.
The best time to make this journey is between March and October. So get your bags packed before time runs out.
Chadar Trek
At 11,123 feet, this trek will take you about 9 days to complete. The trek is a little challenging and should be undertaken with utmost caution. While on the trek, the most amazing sight you will come across is the Zanskar River in Ladakh.
The best time to undertake this trek is in the months of January and February. Start planning and preparing before time runs out.
Dayara BugyalAt 12,500 feet, this trek will take you between 6-7 days to complete. Though it isn’t one that will challenge you too much, it will take a strong will and an even stronger gut to complete. Originating from Uttarkashi, you will pass through one of the highest meadows in the world.
The best time to start this trek is in between the months of May and June and September and October.
Deotibba Hampta PassAt 6,725 feet, this trek will take you about 5 days and is not one of the most difficult treks in the world. The lofty hills of Himachal Pradesh will definitely make it one of the most enthralling treks you can undertake. The trek will take you through barren lands, lush valleys, lofty peaks and evergreen pastures.
This trek can be undertaken at any time of the year except the monsoons.
Everest Base Camp
At a height of 18,523 feet, this trek will take you about 15 days and is quite a challenge. The beauty of Mt. Everest has always been a major attraction for trekkers from all corners of the world. The trek that starts from Kathmandu, Nepal will take you through ridges of the Himalayas, captivating glaciers, pine forests and much more.
The best time to undertake this trek is between the months of September and November and February and June.
Har Ki Dun TrekAt 11,675 feet, this trek will take you approximately 8 days to complete and is one that is not too challenging but will definitely require a certain amount of fitness. This trek will take you through one of the least explored terrains of the Himalayan range that is known for its pristine and untouched beauty.
The best time to undertake this trek is between September and November and March and June.
