“Boss ko bolo biwi bula rahi hai” everyone would have heard this line in a recent television commercial of a popular telecom company airtel. It shows just a day in the lives of a couple in which the wife is also the professional boss and how easily she slips into the role of a wife when she gets home. This commercial gained quite a lot of controversies, it was also deemed as sexist by some. But the girl which acted as the wife/boss is Madhurima Tuli. And not many people would know that she is a Doonite!
She has been in the movie for quite long now. She first faced camera in 2004 when she was casted opposite Sai Kiran in a Telugu movie titled Saththaa. Later, she shifted to the city of dreams Mumbai.She was a student of acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting School. She has been a model and worked in several advertisements such as Godrej, Fiama Di Wills and Karbonn Mobiles. Later in 2007 she also did a cameo in a Star Plus soap opera titled as Kasturi.
A lesser known fact about Madhurima is that she was a state level athlete and an avid cricketer. She had an interest in sports but once so happened that while going for an outstation cricket match she missed the train and instead went for the auditions of Miss Uttarakhand. Just a casual audition lead her to the top of the podium. It seems that universe had different plans for this multi-talented beauty.
Madhurima had done cameos in many TV shows such as Shree, Jhansi Ki Rani, Rang Badalti Odhni until she bagged the role in Kaalo, directed by Wilson Louis this movie went on to win best feature film and best cinematography award in 6th Annual South African Halloween Horror Festival held in Cape Town. Later she was also seen in Fear Factor : Khatron Ke Khiladi alongside in Dino Morea in Brazil.
She was also seen doing small roles in movies such as Toss and Bachna Ae Haseeno until she had her Bollywood Debut alongside Vrijesh Hirjee in Kya Karein Kya Na Karein in 2011. Tuli also featured in Warning 3D which was directed by Gurmeet Singh and was produced by Anubhav Sinha and Jitendra Jain. She also was the lead actress in Nimbe Huli which as directed by Hemanth Hegde and produced by Subhash Ghai. Recently Madhurima bagged the biggest project of her career till now. She was casted as Akshay Kumar’s wife in an upcoming Bollywood movie titled Baby which is directed by Special 26 Director Neeraj Pandey.
Madhurima has certainly joined the list of all the Doonites who got big and made Doon proud.
