Learning from the mistakes in Kedarnath which resulted in the great destruction to human life in June early this year, the Uttarakhand government has decided not to give permission to construct two-storey buildings near the Corbett National Park till further notice. The desicion is a welcome step and gives a impression that the government is now acting quickly to improve condition of tourism as well as tourist spots valuing life of people travelling to these places.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the state wildlife board chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, an official release said. The government is also planning to develop Rajaji Tiger Conservation Foundation with the help of people living nearby the proposed Rajaji Tiger Reserve.
It was told in the meeting that eco-sensitive plans for four conserved areas of the state has already been formulated, the same for various other such areas is in the pipeline.
